First Sales Village and Experience Center For Designer Cottages Tiny Homes Opening in Cashiers, NC

MARYVILLE, Tenn. –  Designer Cottages, a division of Clayton and a Berkshire Hathaway company, has announced the opening of the first independently owned and operated sales village and experience center to showcase its innovative line of homes.

Located in Cashiers, N.C., the Designer Cottages sales village and experience center is the company’s first step toward creating new distribution channels through independent sales locations for home buyers.  The new sales initiative will create a new buying experience for this unique Designer Cottages brand.

“We’ve been working with distributors and real estate developers who are interested in bringing these luxuriously crafted homes to their communities,” said Jim Greer, National Brand Manager for Designer Cottages. “We are excited for the sales village and experience center in the Western North Carolina community of Cashiers to deliver a first-class buying experience for fans of the tiny living movement.”

Clayton has found a market for its Designer Cottages in areas like Cashiers where demand and home values are climbing for primary residence, vacations property and accessory dwelling units. The Cashiers sales village and experience center will feature two model homes for customers to tour. It will also begin booking overnight stays in its two experience homes, which are reserved for those interested in trying out the tiny lifestyle before purchase.  With high-end appliances and luxury features, the well-appointed Designer Cottages floor plans created by renowned architect Jeffery Dungan offer an unique option to the housing market.

The momentum of the tiny living trend has sparked an evolution in the housing industry to support new codes and construction guidelines that allow increased permanency without sacrificing design flexibility. The Designer Cottages offers a unique solution to many of the zoning challenges associated with ‘tiny home’ placement. The cottage-like homes are built to the International Residential Code (IRC). As modular homes, they conform to state and local codes and can be permanently affixed to land and lived in year-round. Designer Cottages homes are built indoors to maximize efficiency.
